Biography

Her obituary in The Gastonia Gazette from September 10, 1912, includes the following.

MRS. MAGGIE ADAMS DEAD.

Wife of Mr. Hope Adams Passes Away at Ebenezer - Burial This Afternoon at Bethel - Formerly Lived Here and Has Many relatives in Gaston.

At her home at Ebenezer, York County, this morning at 4 o'clock Mrs. Maggie Adams, wife of Mr. Hope Adams, died following an illness extending over two or three years, death being due to a complication of diseases.  The funeral and burial were held at Bethel Presbyterian church this afternoon at 1 o'clock.

Deceased was about 48 years old and was a daughter of the late Amzi Barnett, and was born and reared in Bethel Township.  For a number of years she lived with her family in Gastonia, moving about fifteen years ago to Ebenezer.  Surviving are her husband, three sons and one daughter, together with a large number of relatives.  She was sister of Mrs. A.C. Williamson, of Rock Hill; Mrs. M.P. Craig, of this county, and Messrs. Ed and Robert Barnett, of Ebenezer.  She was a cousin of Misses Eliza and Maggie Barnett, Mrs. J.R. Henderson, Dr. C.E. Adams and Messrs. Joseph H. and John A. Adams, all of Gaston.

Mrs. Adams was a loyal and consistent member of the Presbyterian church and will be sadly missed from the home and church circles.  She was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
