Biography

OBITUARY....Margaret Jane Thorn Stewart, widow of the late William Newton Stewart, and a daughter of the late John and Mary Smith Thorn, succumbed to death at the home of her son, Robert A. Stewart, of the Bethel community, early Thursday. She had been in ill health for more than a year.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Friday morning by her pastor, the Rev. A. Hal Key, and interment followed in the Bethel cemetery. The numerous floral gifts attested her honor and memory.
Mrs. Stewart was born October 23, 1840, at the time of her death being almost 93 years of age. Her entire life was spent in upright Christian and social activities.
Surviving are six children, namely: Misses Martha Jane and Anna Ross Stewart, Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Harper, Robert A. Stewart, Mrs. J. B. Hoke and Mrs. Martin Brimer, of York County.  She is also survived by 22 grand-
children and 32 great-grandchildren, Mrs. C. H. Ferguson of this place being a granddaughter.
