Biography

OBITUARY:
Mr. Clair Harper, 54, passed away April 22, 1945 at his home in the Tirzah community, after an illness of four months.
Mr. Harper was born on March 12, 1891 to the late J. Ed Harper and Iva Bigger Harper in the Bethel community. He was a native of York County, South Carolina and had been living at Tirzah for 24 years where he was a farmer and a livestock dealer.  He was a member of Tirzah Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Craig Harper, seven sons: S-Sgt. Richard Clair Harper, Sgt. James E. Harper, Cpl. Issac Bailey Harper, Hugh M. Harper, Robert Gordon Harper, William Reid Harper and John Craig Harper. Also, surviving are three daughters: Mrs. R. L. Youngblood, Miss Jean Marshall Harper and Miss Martha Harper.
Other survivors are two sisters, two brothers and three grandchildren.
The funeral services were conducted from the home on April 24, 1945 by Dr. J. C. Bailey and assisted by Dr. Tilden Scherer. Interment was in Bethel Church Cemetery, Clover, South Carolina.
