Epitaph:
Sacred/to/the/Memory of/Samuel Watson/Who departed this life/Nov. 25, 1810/aged 79 Years/Go home my friends dry up your tears/I must lie here until Christ appears/When he appears I then shall rise/And see you with immortal eyes.
Description:
Soapstone tablet with a large granite lawn-style marker flush with the ground behind the tablet. The granite marker has the following inscription: "COLONEL SAMUEL WATSON C. 1731 - 1810/REVOLUTIONARY WAR SERVICE/1775-1776 THIRD SOUTH CAROLINA SERVICE/1778 THOMSON'S REGIMENT OF RANGERS/1779-1780 NEW ACQUISITION MILITIA REGIMENT/1780-1782 GENERAL SUMTER'S PARTISONS/COL. AND COMMISSARY OF PURCHASES/LEGISLATIVE SERVICE/1775-1776 REPRESENTATIVE FIRST & SECOND PROVINCIAL CONGRESSES/1778 REPRESENTATIVE FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY/ 1782-1784 SENATOR FOURTH & FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLIES/1788 DELEGATE, SC RATIFICATION COVENTION FOR US CONSTITUTION/1790 REPRESENTATIVE STATE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION".
