Description:
The plot has a granite die on base with engraving "DAVIS" that serves as the headstone, and two other granite markers. One is a granite lawn-style marker flush with the ground that is located in front of the headstone, and the other is a granite plaque marker with the following inscription: HAROLD K. DAVIS/FEB. 28, 1896/JULY 29, 1938
Symbols:
Flowers at corners of the headstone and plaque marker, and a cross inside of a circle is located at the top of the granite lawn-style marker.

York County Solon Taken Suddenly Enroute To His Home

York, August l.-- A large crowd from every section of York county gathered at Bethel Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon for the funeral of Senator Harold Kendrick Davis, whose sudden death the preceding day had been a shock to the entire county.

In addition to the York County people present, there were a number of persons in attendance from Gaston and Mecklenburg counties, NC, where Senator Davis was well known, and from other counties in this state.

Funeral services were conducted by the pastor of Bethel, Dr. Tilden Scherer at 5 o’clock. He was assisted by the Rev. H. D. Corbett of Bowling Green, the Rev. Leland Flanagan of Clover and the Rev. Haskell Dulin of Gastonia__all warm personal friends of Senator Davis.

Active pallbearers were officers of the church: Frank Jackson, D. D. Johnson, J. W. Brandon, John Brandon, Robert Stewart and S. S. Glenn.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the legislative delegation: Representatives H. D. Black, Q. E. Britt and S. B. Pratt, Jr., members of the county board of commissioners and county officials. Also, honorary pallbearers were the following associates of Senator Davis in the General Assembly: Senators J. M. Wise of Chester, Cope Bridges of Lancaster, Jeff D. Parrish of Cherokee and J. M. Lyles of Fairfield and Representatives B. F. Plyler and E. Clyburn Wilson of Lancaster.

Senator Davis was a son of the late Rufus J. Davis of Bethel township and Mrs. Elizabeth Kendrick Davis, who is still living. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Mrs. Hester Jackson Davis, and three children, Rufus Davis, Miss Evelyn Davis and Miss Grace Davis, and two brothers, W. Guy Davis and Floyd M. Davis, all of Bethel township.
