Biography

OBITUARY:
Mr. Rufus Meek Barnett, well known and highly esteemed citizen of Bethel community, York County, died rather suddenly Sunday afternoon about 1:00 o'clock from a heart attack.  Mr. Barnett was about 75 years of age and had been in failing health for some years, but had been in no immediate danger. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home and interment was in Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Barnett was one of the best known farmers in York County.  He was widely known and held in the highest regard by all who knew him. He was a life-long member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his widow, Mary Rebecca (Mollie) Campbell, and two sons, Arthur and Tom Barnett.  Misses Maggie and Eliza Barnett, of Gastonia, are surviving sisters. Many people from Gastonia attended the funeral.
