William Randolph Barry May 12, 1827 - Jun 24, 1864

IN MEMORY/OF/CYNTHIA BARRY/August 10th, 1878/aged 79 years, 11 months/& 12 days/W.R. BARRY/A member of Company C/17th Regiment Hagood's/Brigade S.C.V. Killed/at Petersburg, Va. on June 24, 1864/aged 37 years, 1 month, & 12 days.
Description:
Broken marble tablet encased in concrete that is currently upright with support from rebar. A panel inset on the back side of the concrete-encase original marble tablet has the birth and death dates of Cynthia McCully Barry, William Randolph Barry, and William Barry's wife Sarah Barber Barry. Also included is information on William Barry's military service during the Civil War.
Biography

Member of Company C, 27th Regiment, Hagood's Brigade, S.C.V.  Killed at Petersburg, VA on June 24, 1864.  His body was never found.  His wife, Susan Barber Barry, was born on June 6, 1831, and died May 6, 1892.  She is buried in the Clifton Cemetery in Clifton, South Carolina
