IN/Memory of/JOHN H. BOYD/Son of/David & Elizabeth Boyd/was born Decr. 2nd 1826,/and died in camp at Coosa/wharchie, S.C. June 9th/1864, aged 37 years 6 mo./and 7 days. He was not/afraid to die, for his trust/was in him who conquer/ed death./Then blessed be he who gave/Still like seed when he takes.
Description:
J.H. Boyd's original marble tablet has a marble Government issue Civil War style marble marker beside of it. The Civil War style marker has the following inscription: "PVT/JOHN HAMILTON BOYD/CO G/6 SC RES/CSA/DEC 2 1826/JAN 9 1864.
