James Henry Glenn Feb 22, 1820 - Jun 8, 1865

Epitaph:
IN/Memory of/JAMES H. GLENN/(son of John & Sarah Glenn)/who died June 8th 1865 at/Farmville, Va. from a wound/received at the battle of Grav-/el Run on the 29th of March,/1865, aged 45 years 3 months &/18 days./He was one among the first who/entered the service of his country./Upon the expiration of his term of/service, he returned to his home/where he remained but a short/time. He again entered the service/as a member of Company H., 18th/Regiment, S.C.V. and remained un/til the close of the war. He was/highly esteemed by all who knew/him, and died with a firm hope of/happiness beyond the grave.
Description:
Marble tablet with a bronze plaque flush with the ground in front of the tablet. The bronze plaque has the following verbiage: "JAMES HENRY GLENN/PVT CO H 18 SC INF/CONFEDERATE STATES ARMY/FEB 22 1820 [cross] JUN 8 1865".
